Welcome to the Hichizuki Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar official site! Hichizuki means "seven moons" and these moons have shone on the local dining scene in the Signature Pavilion since May 2004. Hichizuki is known for bringing Escondido its first and signature Teppanyaki Dinner Show; along with a reputably fresh, full service sushi bar and classy sit-down dinner tables. The owners are real pros at Japanese food. Master Chef Tom Nguyen has over 35 years of knife-wielding experience at places including Benihana and Katsu. Along with Tom's lovely wife Varee, they run a fantastic family-owned and operated restaurant in the newly developing area of downtown Escondido.
The restaurant features four giant state-of-the-art teppanyaki grills grouped into two large roundabout party tables. Each grill seats 8-12, thus, each roundabout table seats up to 24, bringing the maximum total capacity of the teppanyaki grills to 48 persons. This gives customers the ability to host large reservations for these dinner shows, and also the opportunity for socializing amongst multiple smaller parties of patrons, as the environment encourages chats and shared experiences. Here, skilled chefs not only dice, slice, cube, and grill your food right before your eyes, but also perform some amazing tricks, and at times, add their own brand of humor to their show making the experience personable, enjoyable, and entertaining for each and every customer.
The sushi bar holds its own in interactive experience as well. From here, you can order off the extensive sushi menu OR request a personalized roll made of anything your heart so desires. Trained sushi chefs are always equipped and happy to accommodate customers' creations. Their skills are used to turn your imagined creation into one that is able to be eaten! A specialty worth mentioning is one pictured above- the famous sushi boat. Several versions of this amazing presentation are available for those who are looking to share a beautiful and delicious creation.
Hichizuki also offers a section of sit-down tables with a sit-down table menu for those who prefer the classic lunch and dinner setting. This menu includes a colorful variety of tempura, teriyaki, don buri, and many more Japanese classics which are made-to-order hot out of the kitchen. You may also order from the sushi bar while sitting at the tables; these, along with hot plates are brought to you by our wait staff.

Hichizuki offers catering services for private parties large and small including anniversaries, graduations, family reunions, dinner parties, memorials, and birthdays; as well as corporate and company events such as kick-offs, open houses for real estate, company holiday parties, and promotional happenings.
We specialize in a personalized and professional service that fully caters to all events public and exclusive, large and small; even to private homes, providing everything from food to utensils, presentation vessels to condiments as required. The Hichizuki family will always be available to sit down and help you plan your event and tailor our services to your needs..
Hichizuki also provides a professional personnel service to those looking to host an event at a private home with one of our highly skilled chefs on site. Again, we will work with you to design a menu to suit your taste, budget, and requirements. We offer a follow-up menu tasting as well, so customers may ensure that the food is as personally envisioned.
